Join Rosanna on a ride to Philly to take in one of the scariest places in the USA—the Eastern State Penitentiary. Eastern State Penitentiary was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but stands today in ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cellblocks and empty guard towers. Known for its grand architecture and strict discipline, this was the world's first true "penitentiary," a prison designed to inspire penitence, or true regret, in the hearts of prisoners. Its vaulted, sky-lit cells once held many of America's most notorious criminals, including bank robber "Slick Willie" Sutton and Al Capone. It also is reportedly very, very haunted.

Our private tour begins at 11:30. The tour lasts one hour but we are free to stay afterward to take photos and explore. The group rate for our tour is $11 per person. $10 for anyone 60 or older; $8 for kids. Please bring exact change for your admission fee.

Afterwards we’ll take a quick ride to South Philly where you can weigh in on the age old question—-Who makes the better Philly Cheesesteak—Geno’s or Pat’s.

Marine Corps Toys for Tots Run to Rockefeller Center

Marine Corps Toys for Tots Run to Rockefeller Center

The historic Pattenburg House.

On Sunday December 9th we will join with the Blue Knights XV for the annual ride into Rockefeller Center to donate to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. This will be a completely police escorted ride from the start all the way to Rockefeller Center. This year we will be riding a new route that will take us across the Outerbridge Crossing, the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, the Brooklyn Bridge and up the FDR Drive to Rockefeller Center.

Please bring at least one new, unwrapped toy per person (no stuffed or plush toys). You will need to carry the toys on your bike since there is no drop off point for this event. The ride ends at Rockefeller Center so you will need to be comfortable riding home from Manhattan without the police escort.

Many thanks to Ron Mitarotondo for organizing this ride for so many years. His efforts have resulted in this ride becoming larger and more successful every year. The logistics of organizing such a large scale event have led to Ron handing off responsibility for the logistics to the Blue Knights XV since they have the contacts within the NYPD to ensure provide the escort and parking.

 RIDE DETAILS

Departure Time: Kickstands up at 9:00 AM; please arrive at least 45 minutes early to line up and participate in the very important pre-ride briefing.

Departure Location: GSP Cheeesquake Rest Area (map)

Any fees for admission, parking, etc:  None, we will parking this year on the street rather than on the plaza.
EZ-Pass Recommended?:  Yes
Additional information:  Remember to bring one unwrapped toy per person on your bike.

Meal Information
We will be having a post-ride luncheon at Forlini’s at 93 Baxter St, New York, NY 10013 (map). It will be a fixed price luncheon with appetizers, main course and beverages included. Details to follow.

This is a Blue Knights event, not an official HOG ride.
